Colombo, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya Tour Overview

Then you’ll be heading to the last royal capital of Sri Lanka, Kandy. As your holiday takes you through the lush green tea bushes of the colonial hill station of Nuwara Eliya, you will be able to wonder at the marvels of colonial history.
Then you get to witness the roars of the leopards and hear the thumping footsteps of elephants as you enter the borders of Yala National Park. Your island adventure ends right in the heart of the clear, sandy beaches of Sri Lanka, during the colonial history that surrounds the Galle Dutch Fort.

Colombo, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya Tour Itinerary

Day 1
After arrival an NKAR representative will welcome you at the airport and proceed to Kandy.

Enroute visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, established in 1975, commenced with seven orphans. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their grandchildren born in the same location. The original objective of establishing the orphanage inclined more towards tourism, but it soon became a conservation and educational centre. With the help of local and foreign elephant experts, Pinnawala started a scientific captive-breeding program for elephants.

Day 2
After Breakfast do Kandy City Tour including Kandy Temple of Tooth Relic.
Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings which is a World Heritage Site. The name “Kandy” conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy Lake built by the last Sinhala king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. Visit the bazaar area, arts & crafts center, a gem museum and watch a lapidary at work.
Kandy ‘s main attraction is the Dalada Maligawa, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha brought to Sri Lanka in the 4th century AD. This sacred relic has ever since been the symbol of sovereignty for its rulers and is always enshrined in great splendor.

Thereafter, Transfer to Nuwara Eliya

You can sightseen the Ramboda Falls on the way to Nuwara Eliya.

Visit Tea Factory

After Breakfast Do the Nuwara Eliya City Tour

Nuwara Eliya is a city in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The city is one of the most important locations for tea cultivation and well known for its cool climate being the coolest area in Sri Lanka. Many of the buildings have still preserved features from the colonial period. Many private homes have also maintained their old English-style lawns and gardens

After City tour Transfer to Yala. You can sightseen the Rawana Falls on the way to Yala.

Day 4
Yala National Park Jeep Safari

Yala National Park is a huge area of forest, grassland and lagoons bordering the Indian Ocean, in southeast Sri Lanka. Its home to wildlife such as leopards, elephants and crocodiles, as well as hundreds of bird species.

After Yala Jeep Safari proceed to Galle.

Day 5
After breakfast do a city tour in Galle.

Galle the beautiful colonial town along the Southern Coast of Sri Lanka is a city that cannot be missed. Galle is popular for the 300-year-old fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 36-hectare fort was built by the Dutch in 1663, surrounded on three sides by the ocean. The streets within the fort are crammed with colonial remnants from the Dutch clock tower, Reformed church and the commander’s house to the British coat of arms on the outer wall. You can enjoy the beautiful colonial architecture, visit the Galle Maritime Museum, the Galle lighthouse, Bodhi tree and the reclining Buddha Statue in the temple.

After Galle City Tour proceed to Colombo.

The busiest place in Sri Lanka is Colombo, the commercial capital of the country. Colombo is a beautiful city with modern high-rise buildings amidst old colonial ones making it a picturesque place. Galle Face Green in Colombo, the favorite hangout spot for locals and tourists alike overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean and surrounded by tall beautiful buildings. Viharamaha Devi Park with tall flowering trees which bloom during April is a quiet serene place in the middle of the busy city. Colombo is also a shopper’s paradise with posh shopping malls and the famous Pettah market
